Okay gang, the time is near... We'll be drawing for your draft slots very soon!

After that, we'll randomly assign you to your leagues.

Is the 1 pick always the most desirable in a startup dynasty draft?

Oh man..stop teasing and put em up lol.

I don't think #1 is the most desirable in dynasty. A lot guys probably have different opinions of who the #1 guy is, so its likely you can get your guy a few spots lower.

Agreed! On both accounts.....I think it's a little bit of, let the guys in front of you make your decision, once you're in the top 4 or 5.

Have league assignments been sent out?

No sir, this will still be a few days, we have to load all team information into the league software and assign draft slots, set up draft dates etc...

by the way, DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW coming up tonight gang. Even if you have to listen to the replay. Red vs Blue Tonight 9pm EST

We're taking a deeper dive into the world of the DFWC.  How to win in the DFWC, you have to look back at how it was done. Mark Porwit , aka CROWN THEIR ASH has done just that. We'll be sharing his How to win Strategy Guide on the show tonight and it will be available for download soon.

Also, we're looking at the 12 leagues in question and the recent trades that have been going on.

League 1 leads the way with a whopping 29 trades so far! What makes that league tick? Would love to hear from League mates in League 1.

League 2 is in 2nd with 16 trades.

League 3 is in 3rd with 14, followed by:

Leagues 4 and 5 tied at 10,

League 9 with 9

League 3, 7 and 12 with 7

Leagues 6, 9 and 11 all tied with 6 trades.

Recent trades:

  • Twill for Roddy and a 2nd --- This is basically 1 young up and comer for a vet and a pick. you will end up retiring with a player, so good move right? The chance of hitting on the pick is not high right?
  •
  • lynch 4.1 FOR st jax, moreno, quizz, witten and 2.11 ---- 1 STUD for depth and a pick. Always kills me to see people do this, but... maybe they're right on one of these guys?
  •
  • foles, jordy and round 1 FOR - demaryius and witten - 2 upper tier guys for 1 stud . Love this trade for BOTH TEAMS!
  •
  • ANTONIO BROWN FOR KEARSE, WHEATON, LADARIUS AND 1.6 --- MONSTERS. All I can say is wow. The guy gave up a few really good high potential guys and a super high pick to get the stud.  - Way to go League 5!
  •
  • Ivory, Latavius and Kelce FOR PIERCE and RUDOLPH ---- This one is a head scratcher, to me...
  •
  • KENDALL WRIGHT AND 2.6 FOR RODDY AND ROUND 1 --- Wow, Roddy is really being shopped around this year.
  •
  • TATE, 5.8 6.4 AND 6.8 FOR 2.6 AND 2.8 --- I like these types of trades. Big news on Tate to the Lions, then he's traded for a couple of 2nds. Wonder if somebody was buying or selling on Tate?
  •
  • DENARIUS NICKS AND 2.2 FOR JUSTIN HUNTER --- Wow. Somebody really likes Hunter. I hope he's right because I have Hunter in a league, lol...
  •
  • REED, 2.7 3.5 AND 3.8 FOR REGGIE BUSH AND 2.12 --- Nice for both teams. Solid trade.
  •
  • TWILL AND 2.12 FOR 1.12, 2.9 AND 2ND ROUND PICK --- There's Twill showing up in a trade again. This boils down to Terrance Williams vs the end of the 1st round. Time will tell...
  •
  • 2.12 FOR ANDRE BROWN --- Aaah. Nicely done by both teams.

Here is the DFWC STARTUP PREPARATION put together by Mark Porwit aka CROWN THEIR ASH. Feel free to ask questions or make your comments.

Thats really good work Mark.  Theres no denying the 2500pt target.  after qb, k and def i don't see a realistic way of owning eight 225pt players, but i do realize thats just an avg among them, and with the breakdown of 16 RBs, 20 WRs and 5 TEs meeting that criteria, then IMHO the onus then comes down to doing two things:

1) weekly roster management, selecting the optimum starting lineup and

2) identifying (what I would call) short term prime players (a player with a few weeks of production that when extrapolated = 225pt production!)

In short, the next slide should be Strength of Schedule!!!  But what do I know, i didn't even make the post season dance last year!!!  :)

Mark,

I'm a longtime FF player, and I must say this is excellent information.

Can this draft strategy be used for Re-Draft Leagues, as well?

typically, with re-draft you can't trade your picks.  so, the concept of trading back would not work.  also, with re-draft there is less stigma surrounding older players.  so, what's left is targeting 2500 points overall, ranking players using VBD (value based drafting), using draft software and drafting value.  i have found that value in a re-draft scenario is usually tied to a contrarian strategy.  so zig when all are zagging.  when the masses were drafting RB-RB i drafted value at other positions.  today, it looks like the masses will be going WR heavy.  so, i'll most likely be looking at other positions not WR in the early rounds of my re-drafts to score 2500.

here's some data to consider, over the last 3 years there have been:

  • 5WR, 5RBs and 2 TEs that scored over 200 points every year, 3 out of 3 years!
  • 11WRs, 5RBs, and 0 TEs that scored over 200 points in 2 out of 3 years
  • 20WRs, 19RBs and 6TEs that scored over 200 points in 1 out of 3 years

Excellent work, Mark.

Lots of food for thought.

Unfortunately, although my team in League #8 did manage to reach the 2500 threshold, it did not place.   :(

I am starting to think you lumped all of the teams that like to trade into the same league on purpose, wouldn't suprise me if this new league breaks the 75+ trade mark before the season.

ckc, have a ton of respect for your strategy, what i call "win tomorrow" strategy.  with all those picks, going to be very interesting to see how your teams perform going forward.

Thanks Mark.

Although, I only have one team left in the DFWC that has ANY 2014 picks.  One sold off all of its picks this offseason, the other sold all its picks last year during the maiden draft.  So it looks to be a quiet draft day outside of the one league.

I am in the new League #15 and on the first day, I'm already all out of 2015 picks.  Trying to mix things up a bit.

League #15 has 14 trades already. The other 5 start up leagues have a total of 11. Seems like all the wheeler and dealers got put together.

Phenomenal information, Mark!

I'm in a redraft league in which you're allowed to trade draft picks.  I'm wondering if I follow a similar philosophy as you, perhaps in trading away my 1st round pick in exchange for an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder, and perhaps hoodwink someone to give me an extra 3rd or 4th in exchange for one of those 2nd round picks, I would then gain more picks "within the first 6 rounds".  Hmmm, I've got some contemplating to do in the next few months........

yes, trading pick in your re-draft league makes sense.  then draft value.
